Hay Rosie. Ice cream brought to life.

Hay Rosie. Ice cream brought to life.

Well surprisingly, the first thing that you need to know about the Hay Rosie Craft Ice Cream Co. is that it’s founded by a woman named , a writer of food recipes. And yes, though the Hay Rosie’s corporate color is, perhaps coincidentally red, she doesn’t related in any way to what you and I might be thinking of. Even if they do, the stuffs they make are completely two different worlds. One makes ice freezing, mouthwatering desserts, the other makes fiery hot, flame-spitting wheels.

Ice cream brought to life

Sorry to get a bit carried away by the name. Anyway, let’s get back to the mark of the ice cream scoop.

“Real, good ice cream has a life of its own, from contented cows to the cube you’re holding today. It becomes a part of our lives; it brings us together over the years and it never gets old, even as we age. Each of our flavors is dreamed up, formulated, and then scratch-made with an obsessive attention to detail in our Brooklyn kitchen, so that its worthy of that place in your life.”

Closer to the cows

For the sake of flavor originality, Hay Rosie only uses the freshest, most natural ingredients (milk) that came straight from the local farm-grown cows. “Each ice cream is formulated and scratch-made with locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients in order to achieve the most intense flavor possible.” And inspired by this philosophy, Nudge (design studio in South Carolina) designs the whole branding system out of visual elements based on the idea of nature and farm. Things such as the vintage old milk cans, the cow bell, the glass bottle, and a classic mechanical ice cream scoop are all printed in an etch-like effect to remind us where the ingredients comes from.

And even if I’m not entirely sure about this, I think the criss-cross pattern that printed on the background is inspired by the fences that farmers use it on … farms?

“One that begins in fields of robust grass and with contented cows.  One that engages the watchful eye of a farmer and the attention of dozens of artisans.  One in which creams and milks are carefully selected, ingredients are curated rather than plucked from a catalog, and freshness is paramount.”

Oyya. A beautiful ice bar in the middle of a beautiful town.

“It’s a beautiful, sunny day in a town where several little boats gently glides through a canal of serenity and swans. Along the side lies a fleet of historic medieval building where the streets and bridges were made entirely out of lovely 13th-century cobblestone. To complete the whole picture, there’s an ice cream bar opened right in the heart of Bruges” … continue
